We will present the results of a study the autonomous reaction to swear words in L1 French and L2 English, as measured by electrodermal activity.

In this study, we measured the electrodermal activity of French native speakers while they listened to control and taboo words in French and English. Results show that strong emotional reactions to swear words were limited to the listener’s first language.
